What is Cake Mapping?

The wedding cake. One of the most iconic parts of a wedding. Why not put a modern twist on it that is unique to you?

Well, that is exactly what we did for this bride!

She was having a princess themed wedding in Richmond, VA and came to us for our cake projection mapping. After discussing the vision she had for her wedding and any ideas that she had, our designers worked side-by-side with her to take her vision and create a custom animation sequence that was then projected and mapped onto her cake. One of the must haves for this projection was a clip of glass slippers as her fiancé proposed to her with a glass slipper.

This bride chose to utilize a simple custom monogram throughout the beginning of her wedding and then right before the cake was cut, the animation sequence was revealed. The mapping can be done on a real or fake cake, but since she chose a fake cake the animation was able to keep going throughout the rest of the reception.

On the day of the wedding, a glass slipper was presented to us to be placed on top of the cake. Thanks to the flexible software we use for all of our projections, we were able to create a “virtual spotlight” through the projection to really make these “pop.”

These cake projection mappings can be completely custom to you whether you completely incorporate a theme, do some simple designs, or simply project some images. This is a great way to take this wedding icon, and add so many more layers to it.
