A Black-Tie Event to Remember

Recently we had the pleasure of helping our hometown of King George, VA celebrate their 300-year anniversary through 2 different events. As public events started coming back around after the initial COVID closures, event planner Wil Gravatt came to us to inquire what ideas we could bring to the table for a barn/tent gala event and an outdoor grand finale event.

The first event was a public black-tie optional event that was hosted at Backporch Vineyard in their barn and a temporary event tent with a theme of “An Evening Under the Stars.” We were able to take this theme and run with it using texture lighting to project stars on the ceiling of tent which provided plenty of ambient light for the guest. We then added branding opportunities through a custom gobo projection on the front of the barn of their 300 anniversary logo, a logo animation projected on the inside of the barn, and a circular projection screen in the tent above the stage. We then used navy blue and gold up-lights throughout the venue to help tie everything together. Additionally, we had the pleasure of providing the stage for the band.

The second event was their 300-anniversary grand finale that consisted of local vendors, a live band, and fireworks. For this event, we had the honor of providing the stage for the band complete with a truss structure with stretch panels for shade and a full stage lighting package. Additionally, we provided projectors and a projection screen large enough for all attendees to enjoy a video review of King George County’s 300-year history.

It was an honor to be a part of this benchmark in our hometown’s history and look forward to continued work through the partnerships created during these events!
